TOUR DESCRIPTION

The most well-liked tour that we offer! Beginning in Durban, the Sani Pass Lesotho 4x4 tour makes stops at Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal. Following a quick city tour, your guide will take you to Pietermaritzburg City Hall and the Mahatma Gandhi statue. Following then, the journey ascends to the Sani Pass in Lesotho and heads towards the Drakensberg Mountains. Must have a passport.

The 33km Sani Pass is a gravel road that winds through a series of narrow, razor-thin twists that cross the steep cliffs of the Drakensberg escarpment. Starting at the Sani Pass Hotel, which is located 1566 meters above sea level, is the route. A 4x4 vehicle will take you up the tiny route that crosses the border post between South Africa and Lesotho, which is 1968 meters above sea level. While traveling, KwaZulu-Natal's scenery opens up, offering breathtaking vistas of the wide sky and rolling hills.

An opportunity to savor a warm pub meal awaits you in the “Highest Pub in Africa,” situated at a height of 3240 meters / 9900 feet, at the summit of Sani Pass. To introduce you to the Basotho people living in the nearby village, your tour guide will take you to a local village near the bar. There, you'll witness the way of life of the Lesotho people, known as Basotho. You will then proceed through Sani's Pass, recross the border into South Africa, and travel back to Durban.
