TOUR DESCRIPTION

The journey leaves Richards Bay and travels north along the coast to KwaZulu-Natal's northern region. The Zulu Cultural Village Tour will take place there.

In the center of Zululand, close to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, is DumaZulu Cultural Village. Translated as "Thundering Zulu," DumaZulu is the largest Zulu cultural hamlet in South Africa, home to around 50 Zulu residents who work and live there as well as a sibaya that is rather huge. This community, which is regarded as a living museum, represents Zulu culture prior to industrialization. The hamlet is set up according to the traditional Zulu layout, with circles of beehive homes encircling a cow kraal. A native DumaZulu tour guide greets guests and explains and shares fascinating Zulu traditions and practices. Traditional spear, shield, and basket weaving skills and techniques are demonstrated by the locals. Visitors take pleasure in purchasing ornamental beads from the community members, watching the Sangoma village execute a customary bone-throwing show, and witnessing an amazing Zulu singing and dancing performance.

We make the trip back to Richards Bay for drop-off after the tour.
